Strong emphasis is placed on pupils’ involvement in Cultural activities at EHS. We believe it teaches children to work together, it develops their leadership skills, self confidence, and their social awareness.

EHS is committed to providing the best environment and facilities possible, so that every pupil in the school is able to participate in the activity of their choice; from the ambitious and talented to those who wish to enjoy their activity on a more social level. The staff aim to encourage all pupils to participate to the best of their ability.

Culture Awards Criteria

 

We have a three-tiered awards system, with criteria for each level, which is used across clubs and societies, ensembles, productions, committees and cultural groups.

 

Achievement Certificate

Awarded at the discretion of the staff responsible for the group.

Learners must have made a significant contribution in order to be recognised through their achievement(s) throughout the year. This is the only award that may be given to a junior.

 

Cultural Pin

Awarded at the discretion of the staff responsible for the group.

Learners must have achieved:

* 70% attendance of all meetings and activities.

* Membership of the group for a minimum of 2 years

* Made a significant contribution to the activities, development, and continued promotion of the group, or has been noticeable in a manner worthy of recognition.

 

Scroll Awards

Merit

Awarded to learners who must have achieved:

* 75% attendance of all meetings and activities.

* Pupil must be in grade 10, 11 or 12.

* Membership of the group for a minimum of 2 years.

* Active member within the group; has been involved personally in actively participating in activities, develop/promote esprit de corps.

 

Colours

Awarded to learners who must have achieved:

* 80% attendance of all meetings and activities.

* Pupil must be in grade 10, 11 & 12.

* Membership of the group for a minimum of 2 years.

* Leadership, vice-leadership or core committee member within the group; has been involved personally for organisation of activities, develop/promote esprit de corps.

 

Honours

Awarded to one or two learners who show exceptional skill. These learners must have achieved:

* 90% attendance of all meetings and activities.

* Membership of the group for a minimum of 3 years.

* Leadership office within the group; has been personally responsible for initiatives, organisation of activities, develop/promote esprit de corps, has a significant presence in the group/school community.
