In our sports program all sports are equally important.  We have created a program that has appeal to as many pupils’ as possible, both those who are striving to achieve top level success in their chosen sport and those who participate at a more social level. We provide qualified coaches at all levels and in all sports to ensure that success is available to all.

WINTER SPORTS

Cross Country

Cross country is tough going as most of our runners are intimidated by the courses at the league races but with a little effort can overcome this obstacle and Cross Crountry is then really enjoyable.

Boy's Hockey

Hockey is a very popular winter sport choice for boys at our school.  The A-sides compete successfully in the top league for each age group.

Girl's Hockey

Hockey is the most popular winter sport choice for girls at our school. We have 6 teams in the league.

Mountain Biking

This is a new addition to our sports line-up and growing rapidly.  Boys and girls travel far and wide each week to test their skills on the wonderful courses available around the peninsula.

Netball

Netball is also one of the top choices for girls at EHS. We currently have 4 teams in each age group in the winter league.

Road Running

The road runners make up the backbone of the Athletics squad that goes to Camps Bay every year.

Rugby

Rugby is a growing from strength to strength at EHS.  The teams have done well in the few years the sport has been offered at EHS.

Boy's Soccer

Boys' Soccer at EHS continues to be one of our strongest sports with all 6 of our teams always finishing in the top 3 of the league.

Girl's Soccer

Girls' Soccer is very popular with EHS being one of a very few schools in the league that enters 4 teams each year.

Table Tennis

Table tennis is played throughout the year by the team players, with winter being the league season.

Road Running

The road runners make up the backbone of the Athletics squad that goes to Camps Bay every year.

Swimming

- unfortunately we no longer offer swimming due to the drought

Tennis

Tennis is offered at both team and social levels. We work closely with Edgemead Tennis Club with the club providing the coaching for the team players.

Softball

Softball is a girl's only sport at EHS. It is very popular amongst the girls with EHS fielding 4 teams each season.

DRUGS IN SPORT

Do we ever really consider the pressure our children are under when on the sports fields?

“Pressure to perform on the sports field is turning our kids into walking laboratories, warn doctors; and the drugs they’re taking could damage them for life.”

An article in the Discovery Health magazine issue 47 highlighted this issue and is worth reading.
