As part of our bigger solar project we also took on the task of replacing our old flourescent light tubes with energy efficient LED’s.. Lights in the classroom are our biggest energy users on campus .. In total, we replaced 920 58W flourescent tubes with 20W LED tubes.
Our energy usage has been dramatically reduced.
With load shedding proving to be a continuous headache for effective functioning at Edgemead High School, we embarked on one of our biggest projects to date- TO GET OUR SCHOOL LOADSHEDDING FREE.
We started research on the pro’s and con’s of solar vs generator vs batteries as far back as 2017 and we are happy to announce that we have completed this project and are now completely unaffected by loadshedding as a school.
We have installed 200 solar panels on our roof which are connected to a 96Kw inverter and battery system. This allows for uninterrupted teaching and events on campus.
We are excited to announce the launch of our newly formed Esports gaming club. We will be competing in games such as Fortnite, Rocket League and CS:GO. We are excited to see all you gamers!!!
In October 2022, our first aiders had the opportunity to cut the ribbon at the opening of EHS brand new First Aid Medical Centre. Thank you to the SGB Chairperson and SGB members who were in attendance and thank you to Brice Construction for our beautiful, little centre.
We are excited to announce that we have installed over 200 solar panels at the end of 2022.
